Activities

I believe children learn through playing, observing, exploring and experimenting. My goal is to meet each child’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs. The children will take part in various activities such free play time, crafts, songs, games, stories, baking, outdoor time and fun. Reading is very important and the children will always have plenty of books to look at and listen to.

Infants and toddlers will not necessarily follow the same schedule as preschoolers. They are not capable of sitting still for story time, may need a morning nap, etc. This is one reason our daily schedule is not set in stone.

Special Occasions

I am respectful of different religions and feel that the important responsibility of teaching or providing religious guidance to children should be left up to parents.

I usually plan something special during special occasions such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Halloween. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please let me know. On these special days we will usually bake a special treat such a cookies or cupcakes.

Outings and Field Trips

Upon signing a registration form parents consent to their children’s’ participation in general daily outings. We will either walk or take my van. We will be going to the local library, different playgrounds and parks, special local events as they happen.

I have a valid driver’s license and insurance on my van. If the outing requires vehicle transportation each child will be buckled into their own seatbelt or an appropriate car seat for their weight and height.

On all trips and outings the first aid kit and emergency information will be brought along. I carry a cell phone with us on outings for use in the event of an emergency.

Quiet Time

Children will be having quiet time, which means they will either nap or be quietly relaxing and reading a book. I will provide a safe, warm, quiet place for your child to rest. Each child will be provided with a pillow and blanket to rest with. Infants will always be in a crib or playpen. Children who wake up before the rest will be guided in finding a quiet time activity that will not disturb any sleeping children.

If at any time your child is not sleeping at night, or doesn't seem ready to go to bed and you feel it is because he/she sleeps too long here, don't hesitate to mention it to me and I can try waking him/her up a little earlier. Please let me know if you do not want your child to sleep.
