Meals and Snacks

I serve lunch and two snacks per day and feel that proper nutrition is very important. I like to provide variation and different fruits and vegetables as the seasons allow. I never force a child to finish what is on his plate, but I do encourage each child to try one or two bites of everything. Infants are always fed on demand and toddlers usually eat meals and snacks with the older children.

I provide 2% milk and homo for the children to drink at lunch time. If your child requires a different percentage, or a different type of milk (soy or formula) you will need to provide this. If your child requires baby food and formula you will need to provide this as well.

I do not provide breakfast but you are welcome to provide something simple for me to serve them such as a muffin or cereal and/or fruit if you wish.  Breakfast is a very important meal that no child should miss.

If a child has so many allergies that he cannot eat from the menu, I may ask that parents provide the lunch and/or snacks.

We will have cookies, muffins and other similar treats that the children have helped prepare during the week. Occasionally we may have a popsicle, slurpee or other special treats on warm days. Please let me know if you would rather your child didn’t.

I do have a menu plan available, but we often tend to go with the flow. I try to make sure that we don't have the same lunch twice in one week. I do the same with snacks, but if there are specific items a child requests I will try and accommodate them if it is something everyone can eat. Also, if you are going to send your child with something special, remember that there are other children. please try and send enough to share.
